Spent the afternoon setting up the optical PC. Uninstalled all the crap. Reinstalled a newer version of matlab. Also, I wrote the flow diagram for the drop detection routines. It looks quite complicated and it will probably need several subroutines.
Paulson was great today, he offered to pay for all the flights and stuff, because I said that I couldnt afford it all.
Also got a copy of Microsoft Office 2007 today for £40. Bargain. Got some data from the optical dosdrometer. Not much there so I switched it over to the DSD data. Hopefull it will rain tonight to see. Use the remote desktop software “Teamview” to ge the data tommorow.

Well I copied all the appropriate PhD forms and went to staples to get some black covers. Got to uni, ready to hand the work in, and I flipping forgot the actual reports! Poo!
Good news is that I managed to get the optical disdrometer mounted outside on one of the poles. Couldnt get my hands on any tools, so I had to use a piece of metal to tighten it up. What an arse that was.

Completely forgot, but Office has a major problem with printing equations on the same page as pictures. I still couldnt find a workaround, so the only thing you can do is just make sure that there are no pictures on the same page.
Had a lab in the morning.

Went into uni today, got the optical gauge working. I also finally got a network sorted so we’ve got internet access. Welcome to the 21st century.

Had a look on the internet for some prices for flights, and it will cost about £200 to fly from humberside. You can only get to paris by going through amsterdam which is a pain and add a fair amount of time onto the journey. Oh and it is with KLM only.
Kevin changed his mind about the tools, not allowed to get them any more. I dont see the point in not spending the money, because we’re not going to get anything else from it so…
Ive checked throught the TAR now, and just waiting for emma to proof read
Got some cheap cartridges by ordering them from PC world online, and the clicking pick up in store. So I got internet prices, and I could pick them up after an hour. Pretty good, because I’m crap at predicting when I am going run out of ink. Whilst I was there I also popped into staples and got 3 reams of HP paper for £5! Sweeet.

I registered for all the compulsary modules today and contacted all the administrators. Paulson still wants to go to the paris conference and wants me to look at a few flights. Said he will fork out for it since im skint! Thanks! He also said that I could get some tools from the optical disdrometer budget, so I would like:
Mechanical Kit
Electronics Kit
Tool Box/Case
Soldering Iron
Multimeter
Oscilloscope
Got the first draft finished on the topic analysis report. Need to get some cartridges tommorow so I can print it off and check.
Got a guy called Phil Watson to put a network cable in my room.
Saw Paulson and got the Optical Disdrometer from him and picked up the delivered stuff from RS. Really need some tools before I can put it up.
Also received my proof of income.

Got offered a job today helping school kids to learn maths. Turned it down because it wasnt just in hull. It was all over the place like grimsby and scunthorpe. Couldnt be bothered to drive all the way over there. Spent the end of the day in the lab but I did quite well with the report. Got 9 pages and 2200 words done. Probably 2 more days and it will be ready to proof.

I spent most of today starting the report and got about 3 pages done. Not a lot I know, but I took a long time to make it sound right. About 600 words. Got some pretty big images in

Monday: Had labs in the morning, spent the rest of the day cleaning and moving stuff into my room. Looks a lot better now. I also attempted to get a wireless connection from the Libary, but even though I do have line of sight, unfortunatly the signal is not strong enough. This either means that I need a new wireless antenna to try and boost the signal, or I need a wired connection put in. I know it will take time, but I think the wired connection is the best bet for a sustainable, long term solution. Also placed the order for the Optical Rain guage parts (rs232-422 and power supply).
Tuesday: Got the order code wrong so I had to correct that. Also found out that the demonstrating wages have gone up to £14 something. Spent today buying a house!! Got an offer accepted for £101,000. So all day spent sorting that out.
Wednesday: More time spent sorting Mortgages out so nothing done. Hopefully get some work done tommorow. Only 12 days until the topic analysis report has to be handed in.
